Almond Oil: SPF ~5

Coconut Oil: SPF ~ 4 – 6

Coconut oil can help with protecting against some UV radiation. Obviously, with an SPF of 3 – 6, it is not sufficient to protect during a long day out in the sun.

The oil also helps with smoothening the skin without leaving any stickiness. The oil contains antioxidants and fatty acids that are great for nourishing the skin.

Therefore, the oil is suitable for any skin type and can help with restoring your skin from allergies and irritation

Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide: SPF ~ 25 – 50

Zinc Oxide protects against both UVB and UVA rays while titanium dioxide can block UVB rays including a certain extent of UVA.

Zinc Oxide has similar characteristics and properties to physical sunscreens and therefore does not absorb into the skin and is unlikely to cause skin irritation. To help you with finding the right amount, 1 gram of zinc oxide equals to 1 SPF.

That means if you want protection up to 30 SPF then you will need 30 grams of zinc. 

Titanium Dioxide has a particle size of 150-250 nm (nanometer) that can be easily distributed in sunscreen formulas and can hang on the skin without difficulty. 

These two substances work by reflecting back UV rays and not letting it pass through the skin. It acts as a barrier for the skin by blocking UV rays without causing any reaction to the skin.

Sunscreens that are mixed with these two substances are known to cause less irritation compared to chemical sunscreens.

Additionally, the two substances have also been certified by the FDA as 100% safe as they do not harm any skin cells and do not lead to free radicals which are the main cause of premature aging. 

Raspberry Seed Oil: SPF ~25 – 50 

Raspberry extract oil helps with restoring weak cells to become healthier and stronger while also moisturizing and softening the skin.

The recommended amount to use is between 2 – 8%. The red raspberry seed oil contains a high amount of vitamins A and B that brightens and heals the skin. 

Carrot Oil: SPF ~35 – 40 

Carrot seed oil is incredibly useful for its anti-aging benefits. Specifically, it helps to detoxify and rejuvenate the skin as well as reducing wrinkles and signs of premature aging.

When it comes to applying it, take 2 – 3 drops of carrot seed oil and apply it on your skin. Alternatively, you can mix it with other oils and base oils such as coconut oil or olive oil to increase its effectiveness and treat the skin in different ways such as strengthening the skin to become resistant to sunlight.

Shea Butter

This is a natural extract from shea nuts that originated from the African Shea Tree. Shea oil is a special herb that provides vitamins A, D, E, F, protein, and dietary fiber.

  • 70 grams of Body Lotion

A basic formula for making your own sunscreen with SPF 30. We start by mixing zinc oxide and body lotion together and thoroughly.

It’s very important that the ingredients are well-mixed, otherwise, stains may occur. As the recipe does not contain preservatives, you need to use it up within 7 days from the day you finished making the sunscreen.
